Disability Plus benefit

Disability Plus is our most extensive disability benefit: it offers occupational disability cover as well as core and comprehensive impairment cover and an income benefit.

So it pays out in the event the insured is totally and irreversibly disabled and as a result, unable to work in their own or a similar occupation.

It pays in the event of impairment:

Core impairment – the loss of use of limbs; loss of hearing, sight or speech; traumatic head injuries; permanent mental or cognitive impairment; and the inability to perform 2 or more daily activities.

Comprehensive impairment – specific respiratory, digestive, musculoskeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, and endocrine/urological/renal system conditions; cancer; mental and behavioural disorders; and advanced AIDS.

And can also pay an occupational and impairment income benefit that provides the policyholder with 1% of the benefit amount on a monthly basis for up to 24 months.

Our Disability Plus benefit:

  • Has no waiting period (on occupational disability and impairments)
  • Only has 1 general exclusion
  • Offers maximum cover of R10 million
