Impairment Income benefit

Our Impairment Income benefit pays a monthly income benefit for 24 months should the insured be unable to perform 3 or more daily activities. The benefit is not related to their occupation and is tax deductible.

Basically, should the insured be unable to walk, bend, lift things, communicate, read or demonstrate manual dexterity without the help of another person – up to their 60th, 65th or 70th birthday – the policyholder will receive a monthly income benefit.

Our Impairment Income benefit:

  • Only has 1 exclusion
  • Has a minimum entry age of 18
  • Has a maximum entry age of 56 next birthday, 61 next birthday, or 66 next birthday
  • Offers 2 guarantee periods: fixed (10 years) or experience rated (annually reviewable)
  • Has a built-in premium waiver
  • Offers voluntary escalations of 0%-15% (premium and benefit)
  • A benefit of the lower of the insured’s actual salary or R100 000 per month is available.
